What an off-site copy actually protects you from
Three failures that a recorder alone cannot survive — and each of them ends the same way: the footage you need is the footage that is gone.
Theft and vandalism
Whoever takes the recorder takes the evidence with it. The copy sits somewhere they cannot reach.
Fire and flooding
The event you would want on tape is often the same event that destroys the disk it is on.
Disk failure and overwrite
Recorders overwrite in a loop. The material you need is frequently older than the loop.
Four steps to keeping your footage safe
You point at a bucket
In the panel you choose the storage space you own in WebDisk Files. CVR writes under the cvr/ prefix.
The recorder gets an account
We create an ingest account and hand you the settings. SFTP where the device supports it, FTP where it does not.
Footage travels through a tunnel
The connection between the site and our ingest runs over WireGuard. Nothing about it is exposed to the open internet.
The archive builds itself
Recordings land in your bucket, get indexed and become searchable by time — without anyone touching anything.
What you get
Storage that stays yours
The bucket belongs to your WebDisk Files account. Cancel CVR and the material is still yours, in your own space.
SFTP and FTP
Including recorders that only know how to send still frames. A device that cannot do SFTP is not a device we refuse.
Encrypted transport
WireGuard between the site and the ingest, TLS to the storage. No open port on the recorder.
Time index
A scan builds the timeline and thumbnails, so finding the right hour does not mean downloading a day.
Audit trail
Which recording was played or downloaded, and when. It is somebody's footage — that question gets asked eventually.
Per recorder, not per gigabyte
CVR is billed per connected recorder. Capacity is a separate decision, made in Files.
Already backing up to a NAS? Keep it
If your recorder writes to a NAS and the NAS replicates to S3, change nothing. Point CVR at that bucket, re-index, and the archive is browsable — no reconfiguring a working installation.
